A prominent Nordic bank

The challenge

The bank had recently developed new corporate values and leadership behaviors that they aimed to embed within their organizational culture. To achieve this, they sought to inspire and equip 600 leaders to fully embrace and role model these values and behaviors in their daily interactions with teams and employees.

LeadUp was tasked with co-creating a Leadership Development Program that would leave participants inspired, engaged, and motivated to drive transformation throughout the organization.

Our solution

LeadUp collaborated closely with the bank to design, co-create, and test a comprehensive Leadership Development Program. Together, they identified that integrating resilience and sustainable performance with the new leadership values and behaviors would create a powerful framework for impactful change.

The resulting program was thoughtfully designed with the following key components:

The impact

Leaders reported integrating 2–3 significant changes into their professional and personal lives after completing the program. These transformations reflected both leadership practice and personal well-being:

Incorporating Leadership Values and Behaviors: Leaders consistently infused leadership principles into dialogues, discussions, and meetings, establishing these values as foundational to the organization’s culture.

Adopting a Growth Mindset: Leaders shifted their focus from individual mistakes to team-oriented learning. They prioritized collaboration and continuous improvement, emphasizing the learning process over immediate outcomes.

Motivating Through Empowerment: Leaders engaged teams in meaningful conversations about empowerment, mastery, and purpose, fostering intrinsic motivation and encouraging ownership of responsibilities.

Promoting Well-being and Presence: Leaders embraced a human-centered approach, actively engaging in discussions about their teams’ overall well-being and practicing mindfulness in their interactions.

Making Healthier Lifestyle Choices: Leaders made personal changes that enhanced their energy and focus, including:

  • Improving sleep quality by 10–20% through lifestyle adjustments like earlier bedtimes, reduced screen time before sleep, cutting back on alcohol, and optimizing their sleep environment.
  • Reducing coffee intake from 6–10 cups daily to just 2 cups.

Feedback from the Business and HR
The program was highly regarded by different business units and HR, which noted its transformative impact. Many leaders commented that this was the first time they had experienced such a holistic and comprehensive leadership development initiative.

The program’s success was attributed to the collaborative design process between LeadUp and the bank, which ensured a tailored approach that balanced professional development with personal growth, leading to meaningful and sustainable change.
